No, I don’t mean

you as in you

I mean you as in

the ambiguous you

like you in a past life

and you who carries waves

and counts the blades of grass you’ve

stepped on and you like the polls say

like kids nowadays I mean

you like handprints on the

bus window made from you like

if you drive too fast you’re

gonna crash but not you as in you

I mean you as in the empty house

we filled with a garden and I mean

every inch like

the sink and the bathtub

rows of lilacs between the floorboards

chrysanthemums in the fridge

and the only place left

was the place where

we stood as kids

I wish it was you

but of course

I just mean you

The Ambiguous You
